Los Angeles-based singer Kayls is back with her haunting new single, “Internet”. In this track, Kayls puts into words what most of us are thinking: we’re too addicted to social media. Kayls explains:
“For better or for worse, society has been disrupted by social media. Our ability to connect with so much, often leads to losing touch with our authentic selves and the people in our lives. My new song, ‘Internet’ zooms in on the negative effects of this societal shift; being one with the internet. “
The synths and the slow guitar rhythm backing up Kayls’ raw and emotional vocals give this song a dreamy feel. It slowly builds with the addition of echoey drums, adding a deeper intensity to the loneliness Kayls is communicating through this track. With a melancholy soundscape and candid lyrics, “Internet” will have listeners reflecting on how this issue affects their own lives.
The song comes with an accompanying music video further backing up her message; Kayls is seen walking alone in nature, disconnected from it all. Check it out below:
Kayls will soon release her new EP, Jasmine, so be sure to keep your ear out. You can also catch her playing at Bar Lubitsch in LA on August 24th.
