But how many of them are able to collaborate with Maggie Rogers, well before a debut single has even been released? Yes, before Emma Ogier even dropped an official single, she was out there making waves and connections with her heartfelt indie pop sound. Not only did she team up with Maggie for a few duets on TikTok, but she also started touring and playing venues that took her outside of her hometown of Houston, Texas. Recently, Emma closed out a US tour supporting Michaela Slinger, setting her up for a fulfilling summer. To kick things off, Emma is dropping her debut single, “First Base.”
Showing off her sweet folk pop vocals and thoughtful songwriting, “First Base” makes for a solid debut. The track focuses on Emma’s need to move forward from a relationship that is holding her back. The more she realizes this need, the more the song builds, going from a light indie pop record to a loud and unapologetic anthem.
