Cade Hoppe Searches for Meaning with “Fool’s Gold”

Date:

We all have a purpose in life, but we all find this purpose at different times. Maybe we know this purpose at a young age and fulfill it early on. Maybe a major life event happens, resulting in a newfound purpose later in life. Regardless of when we find this purpose or what it is, one of the main points in life is to work towards that purpose and find meaning. Of course, it is natural to be caught in a period of uncertainty, waiting for this purpose to surface. This is where we find Cade Hoppe on his latest single.

Soft and contemplative, “Fool’s Gold” is all about the bigger picture. It exists somewhere between cheerful and distant, Cade fearful of slipping away but determined to make an impact. Over lush layers of guitar and percussion, he sings, “Please don’t make me yesterday / Please don’t let me fade away / Tell me what I have to do / To be more than fool’s gold to you.” You can listen to it below.

Giving us more about “Fool’s Gold,” Cade explains,

“This song is about uncertainty, inevitability, and where those two things overlap. It’s this fear of striving for some sort of meaningful immortality, but ultimately fading into oblivion.”

“Fool’s Gold” follows Cade’s previous singles, “Moon” and “Labels.” You can check them out on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
