Greta Van Fleet Release New Single “Sacred The Thread”

Date:

Greta Van Fleet debuted “Sacred The Thread” on May 19 as the second single from their highly anticipated third studio album Starcatcher, set to release July 21.

This time around, the band pivoted into themes from the material world away from the intangible concepts of the afterlife ushered in by their first single. “Sacred The Thread” is a literal ode to their stage presence and the shimmering ensembles they wear, yet an element of majesty remains much like the rest of their discography. The outfits fashioned for them and donned on stage hold a similar divine power to the spiritual connections they conjure with the audiences they play to.

“I always like to think that some people’s first impression of Greta Van Fleet in concert is, ‘Wow, these guys really like dressing to the left and blowing shit up,’” frontman Josh Kiszka commented in a press release. “This song is particularly important to me because it’s about my jumpsuits.”

The band continues to carve the story of Starcatcher that begun with “Meeting The Master,” released in April. Throughout the making of the album, the band focused heavily on exploring dichotomies of fantasy versus reality and the contrast between light and darkness.

Drummer Daniel Wagner explained, “We had this idea that we wanted to tell these stories to build a universe. We wanted to introduce characters and motifs and these ideas that would come about here and there throughout our careers through this world.”

Whether it’s tackling mind-boggling ideas of a higher power or praising sequined jumpsuits, Greta Van Fleet maintain a cinematic and passionate sound that’s elevated them to a league of their own in modern rock. With over one million tickets sold, the band has become widely known for their electric live performances and set out to capture that in the making of Starcatcher, recorded in large recording spaces at RCA Studios in Nashville.

The Grammy-winning band will continue to captivate audiences around the world this summer on a world tour to celebrate the release of Starcatcher and will release several vinyl variants for fans to purchase upon the album’s release, including a Target exclusive red-glitter vinyl and an opaque vinyl available at select record stores.
