We’ve been on the UPSAHL train for a while, and she’s quickly ascending up the ladder to becoming one of our most noteworthy alt-pop icons. After a year of touring behind her debut Lady Jesus and last year’s SAGITTARIUS EP, the songwriter has announced THE PHX TAPES, a unique way of dropping music throughout 2023 that’s sure to have the Arizona upstart on your playlists all year long.
THE PHX TAPES acts as a modern-day mixtape with Side A and Side B singles, and UPSAHL plans to continue these single drops throughout the year as she embarks upon another headlining tour and dates supporting Tove Lo. This month’s release, “GOOD GIRL ERA” (Side A) and “CONDOMS” (Side B) illustrate the duality of the singer, with the former serving as a reminder of her upbeat, infectious grasp on melody and the latter being a stripped-down number that highlights the strength of her vocals.
