Flogging Molly Brings the Speed of Darkness to Ryman Auditorium

Date:

On Wednesday February 8, 2023 Flogging Molly brought their Winter 2023 Tour to Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Joining them on this unforgettable tour are bands Anti-Flag and Skinny Lister.

Seven piece Celtic punk band, Flogging Molly was formed in 1995 out of Los Angeles, California. Over the last twenty eight years they have released seven studio albums and one live album which have received millions of streams worldwide. As the crowd anxiously piled into the old church that is now Ryman Auditorium, they were immediately captivated by Skinny Lister who’s theatrical style started the night off right. Once they wrapped up their set punk band, Anti-Flag began performing, the crowd was in complete awe of this band whom brought intense energy, and demanded the fans get on their feet. Shortly after, it was time for Flogging Molly to take stage, and it was finally the moment we had been waiting for.  As soon as the lights dimmed the crowd was immediately chanting , the band entered the stage with flashing lights that showed the silhouettes of these amazing musicians. Vocalist, Dave King, greeted the crowd with a very warm welcoming presence, and contagious smile.  As the show continued, patrons both young and old were screaming the lyrics, and swaying back and forth with each other. The overall feeling of the venue was very welcoming happy family feel.

When previously asked,Flogging Molly, mentioned some of their musical influences are The Dubliners, The Pogues, Johnny Cash, and The Clash, all of which have a very unique sound, and have influenced the songs FM has given us today. During their 90 minute set, we were graced with over a dozen hits including “Factory Girls,” “Punch Drunk Grinning Soul,” and “Drunken Lullabies.”

Only two weeks into the Winter 2023 Tour, and hitting major cities such as Asheville, Reno, and Syracuse fans have several opportunities to catch this one in a nearby city. I know I can speak for Nashville when I say we hope this is “No Last Goodbyes” for this amazing band, and we cannot wait to have them again. For more information on the tour click HERE
