Glass Mansions releases powerful track, “STANDING O”

Date:

Glass Mansions
is an alt-pop duo that hails from Austin, TX. The duo consists of vocalist Jayna Doyle, who has a charismatic, sultry voice, and Blake Arambula, who plays multiple instruments. Their sound is shaped by modern and 90’s pop, synths, and tight, dance-able rhythms. Their music is propulsive and flexible, with luxuriant electronic beds of sound and philosophical, personal lyrics. Their live performances are raw, passionate, and intense rock n roll immersed in a cloud of fog and confetti. They’ve played across the country at festivals such as Warped Tour, SXSW, ILLfest, and more.

On November 11th, Glass Mansions released a new single and music video, “STANDING O.” It’s been described as the latest continuation of “ You Don’t Own Me” by Leslie Gore. These artists experienced, and witnessed, the abuse of men in influential roles, both in the music industry and outside of it. Singer Jayna Doyle has remarked:

“I wrote this song at a time when I felt peak exhaustion and frustration as someone that identifies as a female. Repeatedly encountering being gaslit, my worth dismissed, groomed, and talked down to publicly all while watching this new rise of oppression in our country being force-fed to us by the media and these performative in power. Our voice is the most powerful thing we have in fighting back. Speaking up for ourselves, speaking up for others, voting, marching, protesting, and pushing back against the patriarchy is how we reclaim our power. This song is a call for a sarcastic standing ovation to applaud oppressors for thinking they have more power at the end of the day than they actually do. We still have our voice.”
