Rising UK indie rock/indie pop stars Alfie Templeman and Thomas Headon have been touring across North America on their “2 British Friends 1 North America” tour. Fans lined up outside New York City’s Gramercy Theatre last Wednesday hours before doors, bundled up to combat the piercing cold that the early start of a New York winter brings. Unconcerned by the sub 40º weather, concert goers expressed warm enthusiasm when met by Headon outside the venue, who came offering hellos and hugs before soundcheck. Though the cold eventually impeded the tour – with a snowstorm in Buffalo causing the pair to cancel their Chicago show over the weekend – NYC fans were lucky enough to experience an energy-filled night with full sets from both the artists.
Templeman and Headon began supporting each other’s music online during the pandemic, and grew closer while working together on Chloe Moriondo’s track “Dizzy.” While discussing ways to continue collaborating, the two landed on a joint North American tour. Ahead of the tour, Templeman expressed his anticipation for their escapades, saying, “This is a kinda dream tour for me, it feels really special getting to tour the songs we made and sent each other back in 2020. It’s a celebration of breaking free and taking you and your mate’s music on the road together.”
Before the show, we showed up with stickers in hand ready to hand out gold stars … well, not actually. We had stickers ready for Headon, who joyously let us place an array of shiny stars across his face for a photoshoot. After the show, we had the chance to hang with both of the boys and take some photos of the best friends jumping off couches and laughing through any attempt at a straight-faced shot. Though their tour came to a close in Toronto last night, we hope to see these two British best friends back in the states soon!
