Alexander 23 brought his Aftershock Tour to Heaven in London on Thursday night. The atmosphere in the venue was euphoric, as the crowd eagerly waited to see the incredibly talented 27-year-old American singer-songwriter take to the stage. This was Alexander’s second London headline show, following on from his sold-out show at The Courtyard Theatre last year. Alexander and his 2-piece band put on a stellar performance from start to finish, the audience was truly fascinated.
Alexander does live shows slightly differently to other artists, having flipped the encoure to the start of the set as opposed to the end of the set. This meant that after the talented musician started his set with his loved tracks “Cosplay” and “Girl”, he exited the stage and the screen encouraged the crowd to chant ‘Encoure’. Fear not, he was back on stage in no time ready to rock the remainder of his set and kicked it off with the catchy track “Crash”.
The setlist for the night included many songs from Alexander’s debut album Aftershock, which came out in July, this includes the emotional track “The Hardest Part”, “If We Were A Party” and “Hate Me If It Helps”. He also played lots of fan favourites from his earlier EP’s I’m Sorry I Love You and Oh No, Not Again!, including “High School”, “Dirty AF1s” and “Brainstorm”. Towards the end of his set, Alexander performed a great cover of Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone”, which as expected sent everyone crazy.
To close the special night the talented musician performed his biggest song to date, the heartbreakingly beautiful song “IDK You Yet”, which was the perfect way to end such an incredible night. Hearing the crowd singing back the lyrics to Alexander was truly beautiful and it was such a touching moment to witness.
Prior to Alexander’s set, the audience were treated to an energetic set from American singer Danny Dwyer, who very much warmed up the crowd ahead of Alexander’s set
