The Backfires try to erase the past with “Reflections On My TV”

Date:

After forming in London in 2018, transatlantic band The Backfires had their work cut out for them.  In the now infamous year that is 2020, they released their first singles “Anything” and “The Man,” unsure of when or if they would be able to perform these tracks in front of a live audience.  There was also the bouncing back and forth between London and New York, as the band had ties on both sides of the Atlantic.  Still, they have not let any of their plans…backfire.  They were able to release their debut EP, Consider the Backfires, early last year before following up the release with singles “Song 55” and “Blindsided” this year.  As they continue to make a name for themselves, The Backfires are giving us their new single “Reflections On My TV.”

An alt-rock song with the nostalgic flair of the aughts, “Reflections On My TV” documents the haunting aspects of a relationship that has run its course.  Over dramatic guitar, lead vocalist Alex Gomez recounts moments when the memories nag away, wishing he could move on.  We hear him sing, “Take your place inside the frame / You haunt my thoughts and I take the blame,” before asking, “What’s it gonna be? / When you gonna leavе?” You can check it out in the video below.

Telling us more about the single, The Backfires share,

“‘Reflections On My TV’ deals with how a former lover or friend can haunt you, reflecting in all aspects of your life.  It’s got the uncomplicated glamor of a guitar song that feels true to the live sound we’ve been developing in New York City since January 2022.”

You can listen to “Reflections On My TV” on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud.
