Towards the end of the summer, electropop artist Gwyn Love released the captivating jam “luv 2 the beat.” With vibrant beats and sensual lyrics, “luv 2 the beat” made for an exhilarating addition to any summer playlist, Gwyn’s fans quickly sending up streaming numbers for the single and visualizer. With fall in full swing, it is easy for the buzz of the summer to quickly fade away. As we hear on Gwyn’s new single “pttrn,” all fun has subsided, making room for more serious thoughts and feelings.
With “pttrn,” Gwyn realizes that they cannot continue to be in a relationship with someone who does not want to commit. Along with frequent collaborator La+ch, Gwyn gives us dreamy, ballad-esque verses that pave the way for vibrant electropop choruses. Gwyn’s dynamic vocals really connect the pieces and set the mood as they sing, “Thought you really loved me, but you never saw me / Tell you what I’m thinking, you weren’t listening / Said you’d never hurt me, why am I still healing?” In the end, they conclude, “It’s not a mistake, it’s a pattern, baby.” You can check it out in the visualizer below.
Telling us more about “pttrn,” Gwyn shares,
“This was one of our top three favorite songs that La+ch and I made together. This song is emotional for me. This was the breaking point and the realization that no matter what I did, I couldn’t break the pattern of cheating that had happened with the people before and now me. He swore he could never do that to me, but in the end, the pattern continued. I knew it was time for me to leave and quite hoping I could fix it somehow.”
You can listen to “pttrn” on platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music.
