Vixen77 delivers fiery new single “Royalty”

Date:

Philadelphia-based punk Rock ‘n’ Rollers Vixen77 came out with a hardcore new single, “Royalty,” that hails from their highly anticipated debut album, Easy Access. The band consists of guitarists Caitlin and Liz, bassist Jaz, drummer Sarah, and singer Samantha, and they channel a bona fide punch-in-the-face attitude.

Vixen77 is the product of Caitlin, who daydreamed of playing in an all-women rock band since high school and made those dreams a reality in 2018 when the five-piece band was formed. They chose the name Vixen77 as a reference to the energy and the musical influence of late 70’s punk such as The Stooges, The Runaways, and Johnny Thunders. Their demos found their way into the hands of Megaforce Records owner, Missi Callazzo, who offered to distribute the album through Megaforce’s distribution arm under the Sony/Orchard umbrella, MRI entertainment. The 12-track album, which was recorded in a remarkable 72 hours, navigates life through love and rock and roll.

Their latest single, “Royalty,” is bluesy and power-chord driven, with lively guitars and sweet vocals that have a hint of venom, making the song a key example of Vixen77’s refreshing take on classic punk that has been seen in prior singles “Your Love” and “Record Store.” Samantha croons out lyrics that make you want to dance and sing along: “Rock and roll royalty / When you look at me you better bend the knee / Heed my warning or I’ll kill you with a kiss / I know you love to taste the poison from my lips.” Of the song, the band says:

“‘Royalty’ is about feeling a sense of purpose in playing music and doing it on your own terms. It’s about loving and playing music your whole life and centering so much of your energy on it. It’s also a good momento mori and a reminder to live in the moment because we’re here for a short time, so do what you love.”

Rock ‘n’ Roll should be loud, aggressive, and rebellious. That’s exactly what Vixen77 is bringing to the world. Buckle up.
