Weekly Roundup: August 29

Date:

Every week the Melodic staff assembles a Weekly Roundup playlist of songs we can’t stop listening to. We’re trying something new and letting you in on which staffers picked the tracks, as well as sharing their thoughts on their favorites!
Here are some of the highlights:

1. “Chopstix” – Caroline Romano
“Casual and intimate, ‘Chopstix’ is the perfect representation of what it is like to fall for someone. Using her careful attention to detail, Caroline paints small vignettes of her time spent with this person, mentioning the ‘band-aids over sunburns’ or ‘ice cream on the sidewalk.’ After such specifics, she claims, ‘I kinda like your vibe,’ indicating that these moments were the ones that made her realize her true feelings.”
– Christine Sloman

2. “Galveston” – Why Bonnie
“Texas quintet Why Bonnie have released their debut album, ‘90 In November,’ and it is indie-rock perfection. The album features edgy instrumentals and Blair Howerton’s skilllful songwriting. Fans of bands like Soccer Mommy and Tommy Lefroy will love this project!”
– Lexi Whitney

3.  “St. Girlfriend” – Games We Play
“An upbeat poppy track with a contagious chorus you can’t help but belt out, ‘She’s a saint, and I’m a freak / Who could bear me for a week?’ The track also has a backstory that can’t help but make you laugh… pooping your pants.”
-Victoria Goodwin

4. “Never Have I Ever” – MILES
“[The EP is] catchy and fun but over too soon, almost guaranteeing that the listener will hit replay. The title track in particular is an ear worm, with a chorus that loops in your brain long after the music has stopped: ‘Never have I ever, never have I ever wasted even one shot (like never, like never ever).'”
-Chelsea
