From getting press in major magazines, being named one of Live Nation’s “Ones to Watch 2022”, and constantly increasing her following on social media, Ari Hicks is already causing a commotion in the music industry. Her new single, “Two Sides” is sure to feed this success even more.
Hicks’ vocals immediately start off the song before adding a strong base to back up the lyrics about a relationship with someone who seems like they’re always changing. One minute they’re in love, and the next they couldn’t care less.
Hicks has progressively been showing her specialty in dark pop with her previous EP, “Kiss Me, Kill Me” and acknowledges she wants her new album to be about “entering your villain era”. This style is also portrayed strongly throughout the music video, using dark colors and dramatic shadows and backdrops. To her, this means that in a time period where “Barbiecore” is a trend, Hicks wants “Two Sides” and the rest of her album to be “for the brats”.
