American rock artist MOD SUN recently released his new single “Battle Scars,” a track describing his struggles with breaking away from harmful cycles. The song- now accompanied by a short film that was released on Tuesday, August 23 – is described as “one of the most soul-bearing tracks of his forthcoming album” (PAPER).
“Battle Scars” displays the destructive actions towards one another in an unhealthy relationship. The song begins with a soft melody and mellow piano, continuing into the emotional chorus. With passionate vocals, the Minnesota native sings: “I say it’s time for the truth (it’s time for the truth)/ You say it’s time that I leave (it’s time that I leave)/ I think the problem is you, is you, is you/ You think the problem is me (you think the problem is me).”
“Battle Scars” is a captivating experience allowing listeners to tune into some of MOD’s deepest struggles and experiences. Speaking on the single, MOD SUN stated: “I was dealing with addiction for a decade. I was in relationships that I knew were destroying who I really was. I went to war with myself and came out on top. I’m so proud of where I am today and this song really helped me get there.”
