Jack Johnson sends out the good vibes in Tampa

Date:

Acoustic singer-songwriter Jack Johnson brought the party to a few thousand copacetic friends in Tampa this past Friday night with special guest, reggae royalty Ziggy Marley. There is something to be said for a relaxing evening of acoustic brilliance. No flashing lights, no jumping around.. just feel-good music with friends and maybe a few drinks. And that’s what Jack Johnson provides. His set is stripped down, nothing flashy. Just jeans and a t-shirt-type entertainment. Playing his first show in Tampa in five years, the nearly-sold out crowd showed how much they missed him.

Ziggy Marley opened the evening with a set that definitely set the laid back tone for the evening. Playing a mix of his songs and ones of his father’s, Ziggy had the crowd swaying and singing. If the 12,000 strong friends weren’t loud enough during Ziggy Marley’s set, they definitely raised the volume level when Jack Johnson took the stage. Every song was a sing-along and every silence (they were few and far between) was met with shouts of love for the singer.

Jack Johnson will be continuing his summer tour through the first part of October, ending in California, before continuing to chase the eternal summer by going down under to tour in Australia.
