Soul-influenced pop maestros Fitz and The Tantrums brought their “Wrong Party Tour” to Hard Rock Live in Orlando, along with co-headliner Andy Grammer.
Singer-songwriter Andy Grammer opened this night. His upbeat nature and songs had the crowd jumping and singing, almost drowning him out a few times, especially when he was joined onstage by Michael Fitzpatrick for “Saved My Life”. He made me believe it. Need a great tune to make the commute home from work bearable? Boss being an ass and you want to scream? Andy Grammer, guaranteed blues chaser.
Fitz and the Tantrums’ songs may be easily dismissed as ear worms and, while they are catchy, don’t be fooled into thinking they are fly by night. Formed in 2008 by Michael Fitzpatrick, the band clicked immediately and have been clicking ever since. Fitzpatrick and singer Noelle Scaggs have a chemistry between them that is palpable. It’s hard to not jump along with the songs that have a groove to them that isn’t found too often in mainstream pop music. Playing the fun we all know along with new songs that got everyone “Sway”-ing, the whole night left a feeling of positivity and smiles were everywhere.
“The Wrong Party Tour” will be bopping around the country through the end of August.
