The summer has been very good to Thee Sacred Souls, allowing them to draw in more and more fans with their every move. Last month, the soul band released “Easier Said Than Done” from their upcoming debut album, putting their timeless sound on full display. A couple days later, they hit the road on a sprawling North American tour, which runs all the way to October. In the month since the tour commenced and the single was released, “Easier Said Than Done” made its way onto NPR Music’s #NowPlaying, building the hype for the band and their album even further. Before the record drops on August 26, Thee Sacred Souls are releasing its latest single, “Overflowing.”
A light and airy track that transports you back in time, “Overflowing” takes an intimate look at unrequited love. Containing a mid-tempo groove and a lovey-dovey production, the single does well to set the scene for such a delicate situation. The falsetto from vocalist Josh Lane can easily melt hearts as he sings, “I love you, girl, more than I can show with this heart of mine” and “I used to be so empty / But, girl, my heart is overflowing.”
Along with the single, Thee Sacred Souls shared a behind-the-scenes video from the recording session for “Overflowing.” The clip was made just three days after their very first club performance in 2019, showing that they have been on top of things since day one. As they effortlessly create magic, we get a better understanding of their work ethic and relationship to one another, making their debut album all the more valuable. You can check it out below.
Thee Sacred Souls’ self-titled debut album is set to arrive August 26 through Daptone Records. You can pre-order it here.
