The summer is starting to look really good for ska-punk band The Interrupters as they near the release of their upcoming album, In The Wild. The group kicked things off last month with the album’s lead single, “In The Mirror,” which is currently making its way up the alt-rock radio charts. Hype for the single, the album, and the band can only continue in the coming months with The Interrupters heading out on tour with Flogging Molly on June 7. Before the tour begins, however, the band is heating things up with another new single, “Anything Was Better.”
On “Anything Was Better,” The Interrupters celebrate the possibilities of the unknown. With gritty vocals and an unapologetic attitude, vocalist Aimee Interrupter describes the thrill of leaving her hometown behind her and traveling across the country. She sings, “I felt a yearning, like a burning / Too hot to overcome / Cuz anything was better / Than where I was from,” excited to get out and see what more life had to offer. You can check it out below.
Explaining the track even more, Aimee shared,
“This song is the story of my escape from not necessarily a location, but from the pain and trauma of my upbringing. It’s also a story of hope and seeking refuge in the unknown. I said goodbye to everyone and everything I ever knew because, in my mind, anything was better than where I was from.”
The Interrupters’ upcoming album, In The Wild, is set to be released August 5. You can pre-order it here.
