While their time in lockdown was not highly recommended, Franc Moody did their best to make the most of the situation. The electro-funk band hosted online parties, created wholly sustainable merch, and of course, made music that served to unify and promote togetherness. Following up their House of FM EP from 2021, Franc Moody released the lead single from their upcoming sophomore album in March. This single, “Mass Appeal,” touched on the loss of personal identity in order to gain popularity and showcased the band’s infinitely groovy sound. As we get closer to the release of the new album, Franc Moody give us another glimpse at what we can expect with “I’m In A Funk.”
With “I’m In A Funk,” Franc Moody give us that classic combination of pessimistic lyrics and optimistic music. Over skittering beats and a lively electronic production, we hear about dreams that are falling apart and feelings that are leaning more towards the numb side. It is clear that the situation is becoming dire, especially when we hear the “I’m in a funk and I need somebody” tagline that repeats throughout the track. You can check it out below.
Franc Moody’s sophomore album is due out later this year and sees the band pushing their sound into territories they have never before explored.
You can listen to “I’m In A Funk” on platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music.
