Weekly Roundup: April 25

Date:

Every week the Melodic staff assembles a Weekly Roundup
playlist of songs we can’t stop listening to. From indie rock to the sweetest of pop, you’re sure to find your new favorite song.
Here are some of the highlights:

1. “In the Flesh” – Pharmacy Keys
This one was submitted to us, and gotta say, so glad that it was. This is everything we love to hear in an alternative/indie/rock song: melodic guitar parts, driving drums, a subtle yet strong bass line, and slightly apathetic vocals that convey there’s more to the lyrics than what’s on the surface.

2. “Livia” – EDDIE
We weren’t surprised to learn that this singer’s favorite band is Panic! at the Disco. One listen to this song immediately brings to mind tracks from A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out such as “But It’s Better If You Do” or “I Constantly Thank God For Esteban.” Be sure to keep an ear out at the 3:13 second mark for a really incredible vocal display. Who’s to say that EDDIE can’t be the next Brendan Urie?

3.  “I Feel Electric” – Daniel Johns ft. Moxie Raia
This is probably the last song you’d expect from the singer of Silverchair, but we’re here to tell you that it’s worth the listen… over and over again. There are no traces of 90’s rock here; if anything, we’re reminded of classic Hall & Oates.

4. “Best Lover” – 88rising ft. BIBI
If you’re seeking more ear candy the latest from 88rising & BIBI has you covered. After listening to just one go-around of the chorus we had a sweet tooth that couldn’t be satisfied. 2 1/2 minutes is far too short; put it on repeat.

5. “Camera” – Haunted Summer
One word comes to mind when listening to this track: ethereal. Singer Bridgette Moody’s vocals hang over the song like a smoky haze, putting the listener at ease. This is the perfect song to play while lounging on a lazy, warm Spring day.
