Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan made her way to Boston for a sold out show at Royale and it was certainly a night to remember. Lindsey released her second album Valentine in November 2021, to which she received immense praise from. It is truly one of her best works to date, with hit after hit including title track “Valentine“, “Ben Franklin”, and “Madonna”. Fans were surely in for a treat that night, eager to hear these songs played live for the first time in their city.
You could practically feel the excitement in the packed venue. Joy Again kicked off the night with their fantastic set that got everyone up and swaying to the music. They proclaimed their admiration for Snail Mail and thanked her for having them out on the road with her. No one could have asked for a better opener than them. They really knew how to put on a fantastic show.
It was finally time for Snail Mail to grace the stage to the crowds excitement. Staring off the set with fan favorite “Valentine” amidst fancy stage decor of statues of cupid, it was very fitting. It kind of gave the vibe of being at an art museum except with live music. Lindsey would play a great mixture of songs from both Valentine and Lush, as well as playing “Thinning” from her 2016 EP Habit and even throwing in a cover of “Tonight, Tonight” by The Smashing Pumpkins, which she absolutely shredded on by the way. Lindsey admired the crowd saying they were one of the best so far on the tour. It was so apparent as everyone was singing along the words to every song gleefully. There was never a dull moment that night. It was great to see Snail Mail back on the road again after a while and after Lindsey going through vocal cord surgery last year. You would never think she had gone through all that as her voice was stellar at the show, probably the best she has sounded, killing every note she sang and absolutely shredding on guitar. You just had to be there to witness greatness. Luckily this is only the start of tour for Snail Mail and team so be sure to catch them in a city near you! Tour info here.
