Sam Tompkins shares heartfelt new EP ‘Who Do You Pray To?’ + video for “My Brother”

Date:

British superstar Sam Tompkins released his heartfelt autobiographical EP Who Do You Pray To? which is a brilliant work of art and something that is so personal to Sam. He previously released songs like “Hero” and “My Brother” which would end up being a part of this new EP. Each track on the Ep is outstanding and they all have their own flair to them. It’s an Ep that will definitely tug at your heartstrings while you listen. It’s a very personal project for Sam.

“I wanted to make sure all the music I put out there was personal, or had a concept that spoke to me and was just more personal. Everything I’ve released for the last two years has been really personal, and I’m proud of that. In this current industry, I love the music that comes out, but it’s in a room of about 100 people and not organically made. I’m not someone who has a problem with that. I love good music, but I think a lot of people are searching for stuff which is personal.”

While all of the songs on the EP are amazing in their own way, the standout track has to “My Brother”. As with all the song on this EP , it is a very personal and heartfelt song to Sam. On the meaning of the song Sam explains;

When I was about 18, we lost our Nana and at the funeral we had to read the eulogy. I got about 6 words in before being in floods of tears, my brother read the rest and was so strong. Flash forward to last year when my Papa (Grandpa) passed away and I decided to do the eulogy. Sadly because of covid my brother couldn’t make it as he was working away in Canada. This time I got the whole way through it and I remember getting the text from my brother who watched it through a live stream that I smashed it and I felt so proud because the only way I was able to do it was knowing I was the exact age my brother had stepped up and been brave 5 years prior.”

It’s evident that this album means a lot to Sam and he strives to make music that means something to him as well as others. Sam is a strong mental health advocate and he isn’t afraid to write about it in his music. ‘Who do you pray to?’ focuses on familial relationships and mental health, among many other themes. Sam is on a roll and he is quickly becoming a household name. He has touched many hearts around the world, one even being Justin Bieber, who told Sam he brings so much joy to people. And that he does. Sam is a star and we can’t wait to hear more from him in the future. Check out the heartfelt video to “My Brother” below and catch Sam live in a city near you, ticket info here.
