Wednesday night, dodie returned to play in Atlanta for the first time since 2019. The show was opened by Lizzy Mcalpine, a Philadelphia singer/songwriter whose laid-back bedroom pop serenaded the crowd. The crowd waited with bated breath for dodie to take the stage and once the curtain dropped, everyone cheered so loud it was deafening. The curtain unveiled a gorgeous stage with dodie running up to start the show singing “Air So Sweet”.
Lizzy Mcalpine:
Every bit of a dodie show feels like you’re still watching her on YouTube recording her songs in her bedroom. Her honest and raw songwriting makes you feel like a friend rather than a fan. She announced “If I’m Being Honest” by saying it was a song about “unrequited love”, to which a fan yelled “please don’t do this to me right now!” and she laughed saying “I don’t know what I can do, I’m sorry!” before playing the melody. The British singer played a variety of songs off her latest album Build a Problem such as “Cool Girl” and “Hate Myself”.
Unfortunately, the gorgeous show couldn’t last forever. dodie closed the set with some high energy songs and danced along with the crowd, making sure to grab the flowers given to her on the way out. If you have a chance, go see dodie and her team as they continue the Build a Problem tour and dance and sing your heart out. Check out our photos from the show below:
