This past Thursday night, we had the pleasure of seeing Bad Suns at Webster Hall in New York City. Riding off the success of their latest album, Apocalypse Whenever, released just a few weeks ago, Bad Suns put on an extremely memorable and high-energy show alongside friends Little Image and Kid Bloom.
Little Image kicked off the night, putting on one of the best 30-minute sets. They are very talented performers and know exactly how to win over fans that have never even heard of them (speaking from personal experience). The three-piece, hailing from Dallas, TX, played songs from both their 2017 album Musings and their various singles and EPs, even teasing the crowd with a few unreleased tracks. They are certainly one to watch over 2022, and you should be sure to stay tuned for future releases.
Next up was Lennon Kloser, better known by his stage name Kid Bloom. The Los Angeles native played another highly memorable set, filled with his unique and catchy sound. He has an incredible stage presence, fondly interacting with his bandmates while singing each song with ease and perfection. He is another one to watch, with his latest single “Does It Feel Real”, making its rounds around the indie rock space. Kid Bloom definitely won over a ton of new fans by the end of his set, who were eagerly anticipating the headliners.
Finally, it was time for Bad Suns. I’ve been a fan of Bad Suns ever since they opened up for The 1975 back in 2014, and have greatly enjoyed watching them grow as a band. They have four excellent albums out now, with the most recent one (the aforementioned Apocalypse Whenever) possibly being my personal favorite.
They entered the stage to flashing lights and a horde of excited fans. They kicked off their set with “Peachy”, an upbeat track from Apocalypse Whenever, that definitely got every person in the room in the right mood. As stated before, Bad Suns put on one heck of a concert – they played every one of their twenty three songs with precision, ease, and positive energy. Their light show was also very visually appealing, and each song sounded amazing. Some highlights included “We Move Like The Ocean”, “Life Was Easier When I Only Cared About Me”, and “Salt”. Overall, I am very happy with the direction Bad Suns have gone as musicians, and they are certainly a band you should see live very soon.
