We heard a lot from up-and-coming rocker Sophie Powers last year, as the Toronto teen dropped a slew of singles that showcased the many highs and lows of being a girl in the modern world. These releases were quick to attract many fans, making their way onto popular editorial playlists and receiving praise from the likes of American Songwriter, EARMILK, and The Noise. Of course, Sophie could not get to where she is now by herself, as she teamed up with other powerful artists such as DE’WAYNE, Kellin Quinn, and NOAHFINNCE along the way. Giving us her first release of 2022, Sophie has now brought $atori Zoom into the mix for the empowering “U Love It.”
Filled with electrifying beats and unapologetic lyrics, “U Love It” is all about confidence. Convincingly, Sophie tells us about being in control and not feeling sorry about it, singing, “I know what you want / You love it.” Things heat up when $atori Zoom comes in with his verse, giving the track even more edge. You can check it out in the video below.
About the single, Sophie says,
“The song title ‘U Love It’ alludes to the feminine power that the song itself carries. My intentions while writing this song were to prove that you can feel pretty and desirable while feeling dominant and powerful. Even with all of the amazing change happening right now, it still feels like there’s a lot of stigma surrounding the idea that to feel ‘feminine,’ you cannot be strong and independent-minded. In the song, both lyrically and performance-wise, I try to embody Megan Fox’s character and persona in Jennifer’s Body, a girl-eater who is confident and beautiful. Not saying I’m confident 24/7, but when I do feel good or want to feel better about myself, this song would be the first one I would play. It’s for the girls, gays, non-binary folk, and anyone and everyone in between who needs to be reminded of their power and who they are!“
“U Love It” will be featured on Sophie’s upcoming EP Red In Revenge, due for an April release. Until then, you can listen to “U Love It” on platforms like SoundCloud, Spotify and Apple Music.
