It wasn’t an ordinary Monday night in Nashville this week. The Wombats brought their Fix Yourself, Not the World tour to The Cannery Ballroom in Music City. It was a great night of music with hits old and new. The Wombats are touring across the United States on the back of their fifth studio LP, Fix Yourself, Not the World. The Liverpool trio has been a band for the better part of 19 years and it shows on stage.
Getting the show started was the Columbus, Ohio natives Clubhouse. It was the band’s first-ever show in Nashville and they were able to spread their own excitement with the rest of the venue. They stuck to their indie-pop roots and connected well with the audience in a solid opening set.
The Wombats opened the show with “Flip Me Upside Down” from their new record as a part of a 20-song setlist. The band touched on each part of its musical journey, playing hits from all five studio albums. Frontman Matthew Murphy was in touch with the crowd telling stories of himself and the band along the way. He went on to tell the audience to pretend it’s the start of a weekend and to bring that energy. Safe to say, it worked.
