We caught a glimpse of the ways emotion can overtake Will Joseph Cook, when he released his soaring single “4AM” last month. The track played out like a call you would receive at such an early hour, filled with meandering melodies and huge choruses that take you to a higher place. At the time, Will said the track was all about having strong feelings for someone, but not being able to convey them properly because no one else is awake to listen. Returning with his newest single “Little Miss,” Will is sharing his feelings at a more reasonable hour, ready for them to be acknowledged.
On “Little Miss,” Will affectionately sings about someone he cares about, but does so in a unique way. Throughout the track, Will mentions that his books are jealous, the mirror in his room does not want to see his face, and that the records he puts on do not play like they used to – all because of this girl. He even admits that the lights in his house are nervous around her “glow,” as they dim whenever she comes around. It is charming to hear him sing about these objects as if they have personalities, knowing they will never compare to his latest object of affection.
The music video is just as charming, as we watch Will perform the song for his “little miss.” We watch him standing outside her window John Cusack-style, with a boombox over his head and love in his heart. From there, he continues to sing about her in private before reappearing outside her window for the big finale. You can check it out below.
