chasing luma makes his debut with the reflective “bittersweet”

Date:

For years, Luke MacDonald was all about putting his energy towards dance and electronic music, which is how he ended up becoming a Gold-certified producer.  Yet, Luke found that his success was coming up short.  After taking some time to figure out where he wanted to go in his musical career, Luke decided to mix his love for electronic music with his love for contemporary indie music to create a whole new project under the name of chasing luma.  Ready to set off on the fulfilling and lasting path that awaits him, chasing luma is making his official debut with the release of “bittersweet.”

With “bittersweet,” chasing luma paints a promising picture of a better tomorrow.  Over blooming soundscapes and infectious melodies, chasing luma sings about his past highs and recent lows, looking to find closure.  Even though he claims that “everything is so bittersweet,” he remains positive that things will make sense in the end by admitting, “I always knew there was more than this.”  You can check it out below.

Telling us more about how the track came together and what it represents, chasing luma shares,

“‘bittersweet’ was the song that made me decide to make the chasing luma project.  For a long while, I was really lost and not sure what sounded like ‘me.’  So, I tried to forget everything I knew about making music and start from nothing – I was making at least one song a day and so much of it was…not great.  In 2019, I made the first version of ‘bittersweet’ and something clicked for me, it was a really special moment – I felt so many new ideas come at me at once!

Without being too revealing, ‘bittersweet’ is about being at a crossroads in the world, and struggling to find your truth.  It’s about asking yourself if it’s worth it to abandon everything you know, or to stay in your comfort zone; knowing you want more out of life, but not knowing quite how to get it yet, being aware that you’ll probably be happier if you follow your heart and ambition, but being a bit timid of the cost of that.”

“bittersweet” is available on platforms like Apple Music, SoundCloud, and Spotify.
