Carlie Hanson releases anti-judgement single “Fuck Your Labels” ahead of upcoming debut album

Date:

A few months ago, genre-bending artist Carlie Hanson surprised fans when she debuted a fresh buzz cut in the video for her gritty love song “Snot.”  Not only did she reveal this new hairstyle, but she went a step further and got a tattoo on the left side of her head, dedicated to her mom.  At the time, Carlie mentioned that the new look was her way of telling everyone that she can be whoever she wants to be – no labels required.  If there are any other questions or comments about it, listeners can just turn their attention to Carlie’s new single “Fuck Your Labels.”

On “Fuck Your Labels,” Carlie lets go of all of the judgement and negativity that has brought her down in the past.  Over a mix of feisty alt-rock and mellow hip-hop, Carlie mentions how she “left everything on the table,” only to be pushed away time and time again.  In the end, Carlie accepts that she does not need to change for, or be labeled by, anyone, celebrating this notion in the choruses.  You can check it out in the visualizer below.

Currently on the cover of Alternative Press and sitting at a total of 268 million streams, Carlie is ready to have a phenomenal year.  The artist has been working on her upcoming debut album Tough Boy, which will be her first full-length album since stepping onto the scene nearly five years ago.  Containing a strong collection of tracks that showcase Carlie’s individuality, Tough Boy is sure to achieve her goal of being seen as more than “just a girl who makes pop music.”

Tough Boy drops February 18.  You can pre-add/pre-save the album here.
