Grouplove celebrates 10 years of ‘Never Trust a Happy Song’ in Los Angeles

Date:

In honor of the 10th anniversary of their debut album Never Trust a Happy Song, Grouplove played a special sold-out show at the Hollywood Palladium last Friday. The band began by playing the celebrated album top to bottom for the first time ever, noting how strange it was to play two of their most popular songs (crowd favorites “Tongue Tied” and “Colours”), typically reserved for the end of their setlist, so early on in the show. While hearing this album in full would be enough to satiate any Grouplove fan, the show didn’t end there – the band continued on to play an additional 10 songs from their later albums. About halfway through the show, Grouplove was joined on stage by two of its former members, drummer Ryan Rabin and bassist Sean Gadd, completing the band’s original lineup for the first time in years. The show was a fitting celebration for the joyful 2011 album; an evening of pure euphoria, it was hard to tell who was having more fun, the fans or the band, as lead vocalist duo Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi jumped and twirled around stage adorned in colorful tassel-covered outfits.
