It would be so nice if we could just get what we want whenever we want it, but life does not work that way. It could take years to achieve your dreams, whether it involves finding your passion or finding someone to be passionate about. Up-and-coming artist Daisy Guttridge knows what it is like to work towards your goals, spending the past three years on her first solo release as a professional artist. Summarizing what it is like to tap into something real, Daisy’s new single “i found u” is a fitting introduction to her and her alt-pop sound, and kicks off the lead-up to her debut EP, The Highs.
On “i found u,” Daisy blends dark hyperpop and R&B to create an invigorating track about finding that perfect someone. Over enlivening guitar riffs and electronic production, Daisy’s velvety vocals dance through the telling lyrics, where she describes the strong connection she has with this person. She sings, “It’s almost like we met somewhere before / It hits me just like déjà vu and keeps me wanting more,” and states in the chorus, “I think I finally found you.” Telling us more information behind the track, Daisy shares that it is
“about finding your person, or your place—just when you think something won’t work out, it does.”
Details on Daisy’s upcoming EP The Highs are still TBA, but you can listen to “i found u” on platforms like Spotify, SoundCloud, and Apple Music.
