A few months ago, surrealist funk duo CAPYAC released their sophomore album, CAPYAC FOREVER. The album received praise from the likes of Wonderland, Rolling Stone, and NOCTIS, who fell in love with CAPYAC’s daring, out-of-this-world sound. As a way of celebrating and promoting the album, CAPYAC have recruited producers from all over to remix various singles from the project. The recent remix of “Take Me Closer” comes to us from the synthwave Mexican duo CLUBZ, who transform the track into an indie-synth masterpiece.
For the “Take Me Closer” remix, CLUBZ maintain the innocence and feel-good vibes of the original, but give it their signature synthwave sound. Incorporating dazzling piano, funky bass, and vocoded harmonies, CLUBZ sends the track into a new stratosphere and establishes it as an iconic dance track. CLUBZ really milk the track for what it’s worth, drawing out the melodies and slowing down the tempo to better bring out that 80s pop nostalgia.
The dreamy lyrics are the true heart of the track, though, as we hear about the dizzying power of love. With visions of long nights, rooftops, and conversations over glasses of champagne, the fantasy of transcending time and space with someone is as strong as ever. You can check it out below.
