Virginia-native Lucy Dacus graced Atlanta this week at Variety Playhouse while touring for her latest full-length release, Home Video. Singer-songwriter Ella Williams, aka Squirrel Flower, opened up the evening with a brief set before Lucy took the stage. Her full black attire gave us regality and class, but don’t be fooled. Beyond the subdued and quiet appearance, Dacus never fails to remind fans of her dynamic range as a performer, seamlessly shifting from a somber, vocals-only rendition of “Triple Dog Dare,” to dancing with the band on stage. The songs are intimate and personal, each line coming through the speakers like a secret shared with a best friend.
