One of the greatest, best-selling girl groups of all time, Spice Girls, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album Spice.
Twenty-five years have passed since the inauguration of the Spice Girls. Time sure flies!
Spice25 will be released on October 29th via UMe / EMI as a double CD set inside an A5 hardback book. A variety of vinyl and cassette versions will also be distributed alongside an Apple exclusive remastered edition of the original assemblage. In addition, an expanded deluxe version and Digital eAlbum will be released. Pre-order the album here.
Handcrafted themselves, Spice25 pays homage to the original chart-topping album featuring their four UK Number One singles including the single “Wannabe” that topped the charts in 37 countries, cherries with the girl’s favorite bonus tracks, B-sides, and unreleased recordings from the Virgin archives.
Mel B shared her enthusiasm for the new record, “All I ever wanted was to be accepted and to make everyone around me – gay, straight, brown, black, shy or loud like me – to feel they can celebrate who they are and to be free to be themselves. All I hope – 25 years on – is that message has been heard loud and clear. It’s true that in the end love IS all you need so I thank everyone who has ever bought a Spice Girls record or stood in the rain to greet us or got dressed up in pink, in a tracksuit, a ginger wig, a leopard-print catsuit or put on Vic’s iconic pout!”
Victoria also shared, “We couldn’t let 25 years pass without thanking the fans for their incredible support. There are so many people who have played a part in the success of the Spice Girls throughout the years, you know who you are and we thank you.”
Spice originally came out November 5th, 1996, and spent 15 weeks at the Number One slot on the Official Charts UK Album Chart. The record spent more than a year in the Top 40, topped the US Billboard 200 album chart, and topped the charts in 13 other countries.
Prepare to see the record top the charts yet again this October.
