With the completely sold out event right around the corner, Blue Ridge Rock Festival‘s is guaranteed to make any rock lover feel at home. The event is scheduled to take place in Danville, VA on the weekend of September 9th-12th and will include more than 180 bands and headlining performances by Shinedown, Papa Roach (playing Infest + greatest hits), Five Finger Death Punch, Megadeth, Seether, Lamb of God, Chevelle, Skillet (full pyrotechnic performance), Rob Zombie, Limp Bizkit, Rise Against, I Prevail (only show of 2021!!), Breaking Benjamin (only festival of 2021), A Day to Remember, The Ghost Inside (rare show) and Halestorm; making this the biggest rock festival of 2021!

Though the lineup is completely stacked with multiple artists you want to see daily, there’s always room to explore more artists before the event takes place! Here are our Top 5 Artists you can’t miss at this years event.

#1 Slaves

Originally the project of singer Jonny Craig, Colin Vieira and Weston Richmond, Slaves released their first Album in 2014, Through Art We Are All Equals. After three more albums with singer Jonny, him and the band split ways. In 2019, the new Slaves lineup emerged with former Voice contestant, Matt McAndrew as lead singer, along with original members Colin Vieira (bass) and Weston Richmond (guitar). Since the addition of Matt, the band has evolved into a rock band. On June 25, 2020 Slaves announced that they would change their name after the release of their fourth album To Better Days.

Fever 333 is a three-piece band formed in Inglewood, California, consisting of former Letlive vocalist Jason Aalon Butler, former the Chariot guitarist Stephen Harrison and Night Verses drummer Aric Improta. Their music merges elements of punk rock and hip hop, which Butler has described as both being “rooted in subversion”, citing musical influences such as Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Black Flag. Their lyrics take on political and socially conscious themes such as racism, sexism, and homophobia. While the music is great, you must get to a show and see this group’s stage presence; their live show is absolutely phenomenal and worth the hype. The next best chance you can get is at the Blue Ridge Rock Fest in Danville.

#3 JellyRoll

After the 2010 collaboration “Pop Another Pill” with rapper JellyRoll and Lil Wyte reached more than 6 millions YouTube views, the track was named one of “The 10 Most Memorable White Rapper Collaborations”. He has since released multiple albums such as Waylon & Willie I, II, and III- two of these being his best two albums to date peaking at #4 on Billboard’s Top Heatseakers chart. In March 2020 JellyRoll released his fourth studio album, A Beautiful Disaster which debuted on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. Though it’s hard to put a genre on JellyRoll, from Country to Rap to R&B, he definitely one of our top picks for the festival.

Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (abbreviated as D.R.U.G.S.) was formed in late 2009/early 2010 with vocalist Craig Owens (Chiodos), drummer Aaron Stern (Matchbook Romance), guitarist Nick Martin (Underminded), guitarist Matt Good (From First to Last), and bassist Adam Russell (Story of the Year). In 2012, the band broke up. However in in March 2020 Owens confirmed the possibility of upcoming tour dates on his Twitter account. Fast forward to February 2021, the band announced they signed to Velocity Records and are planning on new music!

SevenStones, from Chattanooga, TN, is a hard rock band refining the hard rock genre. Their diversity is unique and showcases the bands potential for songs that hit home such as “Into The Dark”  to songs that shows the bands heavier side such as “HellBent” and “All My Life”. The band recently announced they are set to release a new single the day before their performance at Blue Ridge Rock Fest called “BREAK”. Their appearance at BRRF will be the bands first time playing a Sold Out festival to a crowd full of thousands of fans who are stoked live music is back.
