We’ve been talking about almost monday for a while now. The band is on the rise after an appearance at Lollapalooza, and last Friday they released a new track to keep up that momentum.
“cool enough” is yet another absolute jam from the San Diego trio, drawing in listeners with a silky bass line, and adding in a chorus that draws equally from Foster the People as it does from Britpop icons Pulp or Blur. Midway through, the band introduces a breakdown that gives off serious rave/party vibes paired with lead singer Dawson Daugherty’s lyrics about realizing that being “cool enough” isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. It’s easily their most sonically varied song, and the prolific output of this band combined with their ability to craft smooth, summery tracks makes them one to watch as they conquer the festival season this fall.
Stream “cool enough” here, and watch the music video directed by Nico Poalillo (this is another fantastic video from these guys, I might add) below.
