Caroline Romano takes on her wildest dreams in “The Hypothetical”

Date:

If you had to choose between fantasy and reality, it seems obvious to pick fantasy, right?  You can do whatever you want in this made-up world, go wherever you want, be whoever you want.  It is all fun and games, until you remember that reality waits for you on the other end.  Still, it is nice to dream, and Caroline Romano invites us into this dream on her new single, “The Hypothetical.”

One week after releasing her alt-pop single, “PDA of the Mainstream,” Caroline gives us another track that is filled with her edgy, pop punk attitude.  Containing distorted guitars, lively percussion, and playful vocals, “The Hypothetical” is all about having that romance of your dreams.  Caroline sets up a vivid world full of “bad boys,” “bright pink cars,” and “bad street art,” where pleasure mixes with pain.  As Caroline sings, “I wanna live in a hypothetical place / Where we sleep and lay and you can’t escape,” you cannot help but wonder if this dream is really more of a nightmare.

Elaborating on the track, Caroline explained,

“I wanted to capture that feeling of being so infatuated with a crush that it’s borderline a state of psychosis.  Everything’s sweet and sour all at the same time.  It’s nothing serious.  It’s Barbie and Ken in wonderland, even if it’s only in your head.  It’s just hypothetical.”

You can listen to “The Hypothetical” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
