Joshua Speers releases new anthem ‘Just Kids’

Date:

Joshua Speers is back with a bang in his new release “Just Kids”.  It’s a powerful anthem for the kids inside us all, because at the end of the day, we’re just kids. This new track is the latest off of his upcoming EP Midnight Horses due to release on September 10th via Warner Records.

This song is a special one to Speers as he recalls on memories with his grandmother. On the meaning of the song he mentions;

“Just Kids’ has two parallel story lines,” Speers explains. “I was home with my grandmother and she said ‘I look in the mirror and see this old lady but I have the same brain as when I was 17’ and something about the way she said it totally blew my mind. At the same time my brother was about to turn 17 and I kept thinking about all the crazy and terrifying things he’s been exposed to. How childhood is forced out of some people and at the same time how parts of adolescence stay with you forever.”

It’s a crazy parallel of two sides of a story, and it really makes you think just how large of an impact your childhood makes for your future, and how it always in a way stays with you. Joshua’s ability to be able to tell such compelling stories like this one through his music is unmatched. It’s what makes him so memorable. You really feel every emotion with every song Joshua writes, and you can tell he puts his all into his music and songwriting. His label debut Human now was a work of art as was Summerland. Both projects see him growing and finding himself within the music. He is one of a kind.  We simply can’t wait for Midnight Horses to come out to see more of Joshua’s storytelling journey.
