Emily Weisband is back this time with an enchanting new song “Butterfly” with Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town. It’s a brilliantly dreamy song that really showcases both Emily and Karen’s vocals and songwriting abilities. Emily has always been a genius songwriter for so many artists, but now she has been taking the wheel herself and writing truthfully from her own experiences.
This song is a follow up from her emotional I Call It Being Human EP which garnered her immense success and praise from the likes of ELLE, Billboard, and NYLON. Emily has been a force to be reckoned with in the music industry of lately and there is no stopping her anytime soon that is for sure.
About the song, Emily explains, “For my entire childhood all I watched were movies about meeting the ONE. The excitement, the rollercoaster of emotions, the rainbows and the unicorns and everything feeling right in the world. As fun as the butterflies are when you’re first falling in love, they DO fly away and that’s when love becomes a CHOICE. I wanted to write a song about staying even when the feelings fade, and I’m so honored that Karen wanted to sing this song with me. We felt like telling this story from both the perspective of a woman in a new relationship and a woman who’s been married for years was a really powerful way to share it.”
Bringing Karen onto the track was a no brainer as she adds the extra depth to the song. On working with Emily on the song Karen adds, “From the moment I heard this song I couldn’t stop listening and harassing Emily about it! It’s so relatable- the stages of love and how they change. Emily’s voice and writing has a vulnerability that is gut-wrenching. I’m so happy she asked me to be a part.
It’s a brilliantly stellar song that really showcases Emily’s growth in music over the past year. We can’t wait to hear more from her in the future! Check out the equally beautiful and dreamy music video below.
