San Diego rising star Norii is back with another brilliant release in “I Don’t Love You Anymore”. It’s a catchy pop tune that will have you singing at the top of your lungs out the car window on drives with your friends while you try to get over your ex. On the song Norii explains “It’s about when I fell out of love with an ex out of the blue, It’s a pop song at its core, but the production takes a page from the old school, wall-of-sound for an emotional gut punch.”
It certainly is a gut punch as the song starts out slow, just her and a piano, then literally bursts into the powerful chorus, with her belting the lyrics “Remember all of our plans? / Run away to France, and tell nobody / Grow old and laugh off our history / Well, I changed my mind.” It really makes you reminisce about the person you once dated and feeling bad about the decision you made to break things off, a very relatable feeling to many.
Norii does a fantastic job at telling her own stories through her music time after time, through raw lyricism and beautiful vocals. You can really feel her emotions in each of her songs and it’s really evident in this track for sure. She may have fallen out of love but we haven’t with her music. She’s a true star.
