When we are children, we have this fantasy that we will grow up and have our lives together. We assume that our world will just make sense, things will fall into place, and life as an adult will be all good. And then, one day we find ourselves living life as a “20-something in the year 20-something,” just like BXB LOVE. Needless to say, our reality is nothing like we imagined.
For BXB LOVE’s new single, “IGNORANCE SONG,” the LA-based singer honors the meaning of living life as authentically as possible. About the track, she expresses, “It’s about letting go of your perceived and projected identities, and realizing that we just ARE. Life is a performance, and we can choose the labels and identities that we use to express our being, without being attached to them. We get to grow, evolve, change, shed. And there’s really nothing to prove to anyone once you free yourself of the belief that you need to prove your worth, or validate/justify how you choose to express your being. It’s my anthem to a generation that is rewriting what identity means and the ways in which we choose to express that.”
Through spunky vocals, stimulating guitar, and some creative rhythmic elements, BXB LOVE drives the message of individuality home. The celebratory chorus, “I don’t know me / Suspect of reality / I ain’t got nothing to be / You ain’t got nothing to see,” is all about letting go of any standards that people hold you to, or releasing any expectations you have for yourself. You can have more than one identity in this world, with many interests, hobbies, and pursuits. Just be yourself!
This is the second single from BXB LOVE. Her first single, “matrix,” is mellower than “IGNORANCE SONG,” but just as cool and cathartic. You can listen to both tracks on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.
