Rebecca Black is unapologetically herself on new song “Personal”

Date:

Rebecca Black is back with another banger of a song in “Personal”. Following up from her previous release of the “Friday” remix, this song sees her being her authentic self. If you’re looking to cry and dance in your room to this while thinking about your ex then this is the song for you. “Personal”  is a queer breakup anthem where Rebecca makes it clear that she won’t take things personally and wants her ex to do the same.

“’Personal’ represents this reckoning with a consequence of heartbreak I hadn’t really ever understood” Rebecca shares, “which was the guilt and heaviness that comes with being the one to put an end to a relationship when that is not what the other person wants. I’ve learned you can’t really stop two people on roads heading in opposite directions, and it can feel so difficult to consciously make a decision that you know will hurt someone you love, while at the same time knowing it’s the necessary choice for yourself at the end of the day.”

It’s a hyperpop banger and features a stunning saxophone breakdown in the middle of it. Not to mention that the music video is also pure gold since it was directed by Weston Allen.

“Personal” is a sneak peek into her upcoming new project in the works to be released in June. We can hardly wait for that! It will surely be full of more bops, maybe even a ballad? Who knows what she’ll cook up next, but whatever it is it’ll be good. 2021 is Rebecca’s year and no one is gonna bring her down. She’s a true pop superstar for the queer community and we can’t wait to see more from her soon!
