Howlin’ Rain recently teamed up with author Noah Lekas for spoken word track “Saturday Night Sage” inspired by Noah’s previously released book of the same title, which is full of brilliant poetry. The song is a part of an upcoming EP called Sounds From The Shadow Factory, set to release on 2/5/21. The books title poem Saturday Night Sage was adapted by bay-area psych legends, Howlin’ Rain into a heady audio meditation. An improvisational piece of music, the track captures the exploration inherent in the poem, launching listeners across “utopian plains” and into the “slums of the shadow factory.” The book itself is about a blue-collar mystic looking for God and his place in Modern Culture. Navigating whiskey-soaked revelations with religion, folklore and dwindling opportunity, a spiritual journeyman wades through Eastern philosophy, Western theology and the American highways and factories of the Midwest in search of resolve. It’s a brilliantly raw book and track and they both show just how amazing of an author Noah is, and how the addition of Howlin’ Rain to the track really adds an extra layer to everything. Howlin’ Rain add the right amount of grit to the track. Its’ a cohesive masterpiece that showcases both Noah’s and Howlin’ Rain’s abilities.

Noah Lekas has always been interested in literature and music and found ways incorporate the both together. His first book, Saturday Night Sage (April 13, 2019) is a collection of narrative prose exploring mysticism and menial labor in contemporary America. It was The Exterminator by William Burroughs and Hot Water Music by Charles Bukowski. His work is authentically American and touches on subjects that are all but too real. The collection gives voice to an often overlooked and undervalued, working-class experience. His work blends in culture and music like no other, and that’s what makes him so special. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for both Noah and Howlin’ Rain!
Keep Up With Noah Lekas!
