Maggie Lindemann Channels Spooky Persona on “Scissorhands”

Date:

At first glance, it might seem cool to have scissors for hands.  You could build amazing topiaries, make a decent living as a hairstylist, and carve beautiful ice sculptures.  With so many amazing opportunities to create, could it get any better?

Maybe the better question is, “Could it get any worse?”  In Maggie Lindemann’s latest single, “Scissorhands,” she reveals that it might not be in everyone’s best interests to have such a deadly touch.  She describes how upsetting it is to never be able to get close to someone, singing how her “touch goes up in flames” and how an intimate moment could have a deadly result.  Based on all of the stares she receives, she wishes she could change her ways.  Instead, she pushes people away, warning them not to come near her.

Musically speaking, “Scissorhands” follows the lead of “Knife Under My Pillow” and “GASLIGHT!,” maintaining a grunge, alt rock attitude.  The enthusiastic drum and guitar intro, which incorporates the sounds of cutting blades, immediately establishes the mood, making us believe we are in for something extreme.  Maggie’s sweeter, playful vocals break up this intensity, providing a warmer color to the track’s overall sound.  You can check it out below.
