SHIRA Makes Salient Debut with “save me”

Date:

Each day, artists find new ways to channel their thoughts, feelings, and observations into music.  This is all the more true during the crisis that is the coronavirus pandemic, where artists really need to put their creativity to the test. Separated from their bandmates and limited to their own recording equipment, they have their work cut out for them.  The task of making something epic might seem impossible right now, but for anyone in need of inspiration, look no further than SHIRA.

SHIRA is an up-and-coming artist, whose first-ever single, “save me,” was engineered and produced all by herself.  She recorded the track in her garage, and was able to have a guitarist contribute his parts of the song through a virtual session.  The result is a potent alternative-rock track, filled with coveting choruses and engaging lyrics.

The track is a candid illustration of solitude.  SHIRA states, “I reflect on my darkest moments in ‘save me.’  When writing the track, I wanted to project the loneliness that comes from my mental illness.”  It is undeniable that there is a sense of distress all throughout the track – you feel just how crippling it is for SHIRA to be alone.

SHIRA could not have picked a better time to release “save me,” as May is Mental Health Awareness Month.  This track helps break down the stigma against mental illness, and reassures those struggling in quarantine that they are not alone.  You can check it out below.
