Elliot Jones is a force to be reckoned with, with his recent singles gaining over 240,000 streams collectively, his rise to pop stardom is on the horizon with the release of his newest single, “Groupie.” The Toronto native, now LA based artist describes his style as pop music with psychedelic, dance influences.
Directed by Chris Garcia and Shawn Binder, his music video pays high fashion homage to the groupie/70s music culture featuring a full LGBTQ cast. When asked about his inspiration behind the video, Jones credits the film Almost Famous as being a big influence. “I was going through a situation where I was hanging out with someone and I felt that whenever we would talk about him the conversation was flowing and going really well, but whenever we would talk about me he would get bored so I wanted to write a song about that and was thinking of interesting ways to convey my feelings and that’s where the concept of feeling like a groupie came from. I started to feel like Penny Lane; what I’m putting into this is not the same as what I’m getting back.”
Jones has plans to release more singles in the future and with a career launching as fast as his, we’re excited to see where his career takes him next. For now, you can stream Groupie on all platforms, watch the video below and keep updated on his social media: @imelliotjones
