Review- Carlie Hanson “Side Effects”

Date:

At only 19 years old Carlie Hanson is an unstoppable force. Hanson is originally from Wisconsin and is quickly taking over the pop world. Carlie knew she wanted to make music from a young age when she would post covers on Youtube in hopes to be noticed. Little did she know she would soon be noticed in the best way. While she was working her job at McDonald’s she had entered a contest with iHeartRadio in which she had to submit a video of her singing Zayn’s “Pillowtalk”. She had posted the video to Instagram where it got reposted by iHeart and started gaining significant attention. With all of this happening so quickly she got contacted by a talent agent who invited her to record with them. That’s when things started taking off for Carlie, and the rest is history.

Upon releasing her song “Only One” she had no idea it would gain the attention it got, let alone be noticed and added to Taylor Swift’s playlist. The song is infectious and is her hit song with over 62 million plays on Spotify. Carlie embarked on the Bloom Tour opening for Troye Sivan in the fall of 2018. In early 2019 she signed to Warner Bros. Records and then in June Carlie released her debut EP Junk featuring hit songs like “Back in My Arms”, and “WYA”. Fresh off of the WYA Tour this fall, Carlie is back with some heat with her new song “Side Effects”. This is a banger of a track that will leave you in your feels. With this song Carlie explains the feelings you get in an unexpected new relationship. “I wasn’t looking for this, now I don’t want this to end”. You can really sense how Carlie feels in this song with lyrics that tug at your heartstrings.  The song starts out slowly with a groovy backing guitar, really giving the track a sense of depth before the chorus hits. And the chorus really hits you. The electro pop feel of the chorus with a backing drum track that you really feel in your chest gives you that sense of wanting to blast the track really loud while driving. Carlie’s angelic voice really sets the tone for the song and leaves you feeling more in love than before. From McDonald’s to the stage, Carlie has come a long way and is only on the rise to become Pop’s next biggest star. Don’t miss out on her rise to fame, check out the single below!
