LIVE PHOTOS + REVIEW: Sam Fender // Leeds, UK

Date:

Yesterday saw Sam Fender take to the stage for a sold out show at the Leeds 02 Academy. As support act Brooke Bentham finished her set the venue was fit to burst with fans eagerly awaiting the start of the show. The crowd knew they were in for a great night of live music as Sam and the band burst onto the stage performing ‘Will We Talk’, a perfect opening track which set the tone for the evening. The setlist included fan favourites from his debut album ‘Hypersonic Missiles’  including ‘Millennial’, ‘The Borders’, ‘Play God’ and ‘Spice’.

The setlist was a perfect balance of upbeat songs split with slower lyrically heavy tracks which included the stunning ‘Dead Boys’. Following on from the jumping, mosh pits, and crowd surfing was a change in direction again with a cover of Dancing In The Dark by one of Sam’s biggest influences Bruce Springsteen. Another highlight from the set was ‘Saturday’, an anthemic song that went down an absolute treat with the Yorkshire crowd. As a tribute to the electric Leeds crowd Sam closed out the show with a cover of Oasis’s ‘Whats The Story Morning Glory’ a one off performance of the song for this tour stint which was a perfect end to the set.
