The name Garza may come to mind, as it is the solo project of talented musician Rob Garza, who is half of the electronic group Thievery Corporation. This is the first time Rob is going solo in this project and he seems to be off to a great start in his new venture. Rob is formally a DJ and he wants this project to be a collaborative musical experience. GARZA features new collaborative ideas and a deep reimagining of a process that features a collective of artists, musicians, photographers, videographers, and producers. The music can be described as multidimensional with a varying degree of genres mixed in while it all blends together to form one single musical experience. GARZA is different from Rob’s previous work in the sense that pushes the boundaries between pop and electronic. Rob has been making music for over twenty years now so he is no stranger to the business. With GARZA, Rob continues to elevate his musical skills and keeps breaking more boundaries.
GARZA recently released their debut EP Where The Moon Hides , which features five very different but unique tracks that define who GARZA really is. The debut single “Deep Blue” is a chill track that makes you feel like you could listen to it on a late night drive. The track also features Grammy nominated artist Seann Bowe as the vocalist. Second track “Be My Home” features Seann again and is a funky electronic tune with layering backing vocals that make it a danceable track. “Unredeemable You” features different angelic vocals from artist Emeline that really make the somber slow track pop. “Floating Inside My Bones” is a banger of a song that makes you want to get up and dance to, featuring Bowe once again on the vocals. The backing piano and electronic drum beat give this song a sense of depth and make it stand out from the rest. The last track on the EP “Where The Moon Hides”, which is the title track, is another gem featuring Emeline’s sweet breathy vocals and dazzling electronic-pop beats that make it a perfect way to end the EP. GARZA’s ability to intertwine electronic with pop while featuring different artists on the EP is groundbreaking. GARZA continues to break more and more boundaries with their music. You definitely don’t want to miss out on what GARZA has in store!
